I haven't done a blog in a while. The London
Olympics is now 126 days away, so I thought I
should get everyone up to speed on what's
I closed out 2011 with some success: winning a silver medal at the Samoa
World Cup in November and finishing in the top 16 at the Qingdao Grand
As my qualifying campaign has gone well, I chose not to attend the February
2012 European Circuit. Instead I have put in a long training block locally,
here in Melbourne, in preparation for Oceania Continentals. In addition, I
competed at the ACT International Championships, picking up the gold medal.
I had four hard fights that day, but more importantly I got to see that the
next batch of Aussie boys at 66 kg is coming along really well.
Training has gone very well over the past few months and I am very excited
about the next five weeks. I will be heading to Japan today for a
two-week training camp in Fukuoka with the Elite Fukuoka Police Team. I
will then return home for a week and then head up to Cairns for a training
camp that will roll into the Oceania Continental Championships. This is the
end of the qualifying road, and where I will hopefully claim my fourth
So all systems are go: mentally and physically. Now it is just matter of
following my training and competition plan that will have me in a position
to fight for a medal in London. You’ll have to stay tuned to see exactly
what I put myself through to try and achieve this goal.
