The London Olympics are only 126 Days Away

I haven't done a blog in a while. The London
Olympics is now 126 days away, so I thought I
should get everyone up to speed on what's
going on

I closed out 2011 with some success: winning a silver medal at the Samoa
World Cup in November and finishing in the top 16 at the Qingdao Grand

As my qualifying campaign has gone well, I chose not to attend the February
2012 European Circuit. Instead I have put in a long training block locally,
here in Melbourne, in preparation for Oceania Continentals. In addition, I
competed at the ACT International Championships, picking up the gold medal.
I had four hard fights that day, but more importantly I got to see that the
next batch of Aussie boys at 66 kg is coming along really well.

Training has gone very well over the past few months and I am very excited
about the next five weeks. I will be heading to Japan today for a
two-week training camp in Fukuoka with the Elite Fukuoka Police Team. I
will then return home for a week and then head up to Cairns for a training
camp that will roll into the Oceania Continental Championships. This is the
end of the qualifying road, and where I will hopefully claim my fourth
straight title.

So all systems are go: mentally and physically. Now it is just matter of
following my training and competition plan that will have me in a position
to fight for a medal in London. You’ll have to stay tuned to see exactly
what I put myself through to try and achieve this goal.

What happens now?

Now that the Olympics is done and dusted I’ve got to make some big decisions. I have refused to make any plans until the Olympics were done and now it’s time to shape my short, mid and long term future.

Progress – How the hell do you measure it?

Judo is one of the easiest sports to make you feel miserable when you are not winning, and the complexity of the sport can lead practitioners to feel like they are getting nowhere or even going backwards.
